Susan lived in Albuquerque and exhibited her elegant pastels with us for several years prior to moving to San Diego – so we still consider her one of own New Mexican artists! Hoping she’ll come back some day to stay, we look forward to her visits and all the beautiful art that she continues to create.

“With a personal goal to impact all with the beauty of life in its expressive moods, the viewer experiences the sense of touch by observing movement. This movement is the result from the mass of individualized strokes worked in heavy layers.
My preference for pastels is derived from the desire of sculpting, i.e. by manipulating the pastel in my hand and utilizing all aspects of the stick with varied pressuring strokes. To me, this is much more intimate than using an extension, such as a pencil or brush. All work reflects a heavy influence from pastels created during the Impressionistic Era, in color and technique.
I feel the beauty of a simple state of being is exhilarating, thus utilize minimalistic settings. Life becomes too complex as the years roll on, where the “white and black” of an issue becomes the true essence of life.”
